The European Voluntary Service (EVS) is a learning experience in the field of non-formal education, in which young volunteers improve or acquire skills for their personal, educational and professional development, as well as for their social integration.
The European Voluntary Service supports the transnational voluntary work of youth. Its objective is to develop solidarity and promote tolerance among young people, mainly to reinforce social cohesion in the European Union. It promotes active citizenship and mutual understanding among youth. EVS is carried out through activities that involve an association between legally established non-profit organizations that send or receive volunteers. The volunteers perform the activity in a country other than their country of residence. This activity, unpaid and non-profitable, is carried out full-time for a certain period for the community´s benefit.
